Union Skates Past Dartmouth

SCHENECTADY, N.Y.— Senior goaltender Alex Sakellaropoulos made 34 saves and the 11th-ranked Union College men's hockey team scored three power-play goals en route to a 4-1 win against Dartmouth, Friday night at Messa Rink. The Dutchmen improve to 15-5-2 overall and 9-1-1 in ECAC Hockey, while the Big Green goes to 5-8-3 overall and 2-4-2 in the league.

Sakellaropoulos was nearly unbeatable, making 13 saves in the first and second and eight in the third.

Brett Supinski produced his second career two-goal game, Spencer Foo extended his Division I-best point streak to 20 games with three points (1g, 2a), Jeff Taylor added a goal and an assist and Sebastian Vidmar had a pair of helpers.

Union took a 1-0 lead at 8:45 of the first when Supinski redirected Taylor's point shot past Dartmouth goaltender Aidan Clark (20 saves) for his fourth of the season.

Hesler answered for Dartmouth at 13:52 with a redirection of his own on the Big Green's first power-play opportunity of the game.

Dartmouth nearly pulled in front midway through the second period, but Sakellaropoulos came up with a big glove save to deny Crema, who found himself alone in the slot after the puck took a fortunate bounce off the sideboards.

Supinski gave the Dutchmen the last lead they would need at 15:42, jamming home a rebound after a scramble in the crease. Foo's initial point shot was saved, but Supinski, Ryan Scarfo and Vidmar worked away at the loose puck before Supinski was finally able to find the back of the net.

Taylor made it 3-1 1:04 into the third period, ripping a shot through traffic and past Clark with assists from Foo and Mike Vecchione.

Foo capped the scoring with an empty net goal at 19:30, giving Union the 4-1 win.
