League’s Weekly Awards Presented to Vesey, Snively & Lyon

ALBANY, N.Y. - ECAC Hockey men’s weekly awards were announced Tuesday, November 3 as Harvard’s senior forward Jimmy Vesey earned Player of the Week honors, while the duo from Yale -- Joe Snively and Alex Lyon were tabbed as the league’s Rookie of the Week and Goaltender of the Week, respectively.

Player of the Week
Jimmy Vesey, Harvard University
(Senior, Forward - North Reading, Massachusetts)

In the first weekend of the season for the Crimson, Vesey picked up right where he left off last season with two goals and three assists. In the season-opener at Dartmouth, Vesey netted one goal and three assists for four points, matching his career best for points in a game. His second period goal also gave him 100 points in his Harvard career. He added another goal the following night to complete the weekend sweep of Dartmouth, helping Harvard start 2-0-0 for the first time since 2012-13.

Rookie of the Week
Joe Snively, Yale University
(Freshman, Forward - Herndon, Virginia)

Snively, playing his first collegiate game, set up the game-winner against Princeton by winning the puck from three Tigers and then feeding an open Bulldog in the slot late in the third period. He scored twice in the title game for a three-point weekend helping the Bulldogs capture their second straight tournament to open the season. He finished with a plus/minus rating of +2 and registered seven shots over the weekend.

Goaltender of the Week
Alex Lyon, Yale University
(Junior, Goaltender - Baudette, Minnesota)

Lyon stopped 53 of 55 shots in his first two games of the year, helping Yale win the Capital City Classic in Trenton, N.J. He gave up one goal versus Princeton and did the same against an undefeated UMass team in the title game. Lyon finished with a .964 save percentage and a 1.00 goals-against average over the two games.
