ALBANY, N.Y. - ECAC Hockey men’s monthly awards were announced Wednesday, March 2 as the duo from St. Lawrence, Gavin Bayreuther and Jacob Pritchard were selected as the league’s Player of the Month and Rookie of the Month, respectively; while Alex Lyon, Yale was tabbed as Goaltender of the Month.
Player of the Month
Gavin Bayreuther, St. Lawrence University
(Junior, Defenseman - Canaan, New Hampshire)
Bayreuther finished the year on a nine-game scoring streak to become the first defenseman in program history to lead SLU in scoring. He scored in every February game, netted the game-tying goal at Brown, assisted on the overtime winner against Quinnipiac and the game-winner against Princeton. He recorded 11 blocked shots for the month as the Saints went 4-2-2 to move from seventh to fourth in the final ECAC Hockey standings. He also became the first defenseman to win the league’s Player of the Month award since its inception.

Rookie of the Month
Jacob Pritchard, St. Lawrence University
(Freshman, Forward - Macomb, Michigan)
Pritchard led all ECAC Hockey rookies in goals for the month of February with five and finished the regular-season on a 10-game scoring streak. He scored in every February game including recording his first-career two-goal game in a 3-3 tie at Union. The Saints went 4-2-2 for the month to lock up the No. 4 seed in the upcoming postseason tournament. He finished fourth in the nation among all rookies in scoring and tied for seventh in points per game with 1.25.

Goaltender of the Month
Alex Lyon, Yale University
(Junior, Goaltender - Baudette, Minnesota)
Lyon won his first seven games over the course of February before falling to No. 1 Quinnipiac on Feb. 27, posting a 7-1-1 record. He did not allow a power-play goal during the month. On a national scope Lyon tied for the lead in wins with seven and shutouts with two among all of this goaltending counterparts in February. He led ECAC Hockey in wins with seven; win percentage (.875), .945 save percentage, goals-against average (1.38) and shutouts during the month.
