New Haven Register Sports Person of Year: Yale Bulldogs

NEW HAVEN — The locker is nearly empty, save for her name
plate and the white No. 17 jersey with blue trim dangling from a
hanger.
The memories remain fresh in the minds and hearts of the Yale
women’s hockey team’s four seniors, the last active
players to suit up for game action with Mandi Schwartz.
For Yale’s younger players, some of whom knew her vaguely,
some who never had the chance to meet her, the space is a quiet
shrine to a soft-spoken teammate who inspired many.
