Yale 'Adopts' 9-Year-Old Girl, but She May be One Helping Them

GUILFORD — There’s an aspect of the
relationship between Giana Cardonita and the Yale women’s
hockey team that a 9-year-old girl can’t possibly
comprehend.
She loves the team as athletes, as a couple dozen big sisters, as
friends who have come into her life to help share her recovery from
a rare brain tumor, and the normalcy she is slowly starting to
find.
But what does a 9-year-old girl know, in her own small, innocent
and irrepressible way, of the void she is filling, in turn, for the
women’s hockey team?
