NEW HAVEN — Colonel David Murphy, the Department of Defense
lead for threat finance in Afghanistan, knows something about
obligation, so he made his fashionable entrance at Ingalls Rink
wearing his Army fatigues while his daughter skated during pregame
warmups at home for the final time.
It’s been approximately nine months since Caroline Murphy,
the Yale women’s hockey captain, has seen her father, who was
back in Connecticut Saturday to witness an event so treasured by
the Murphy family that even war was put on pause.
When Caroline saw her dad, it was the first of several good cries
this day for the Yale senior and her parents, David and Lisa,
during a Senior Day ceremony that also honored Yale teammates
Alyssa Clark and Berit Johnson.
