Team Notes: Bulldogs to Salute Seniors

The following article appeared February 19 on the Yale Web site.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Yale women's hockey program says goodbye to its eight seniors this weekend with games against Quinnipiac (Friday, 7:00 p.m., Yale All*Access, GameTracker) and Princeton (Saturday, 4:00 p.m., WYBC 1340 AM, Yale All*Access, GameTracker). With two games left, the Bulldogs still have some accomplishments within reach. Wins in each of the remaining games would give the team 13 wins for the season, which would be third all-time at Yale. The senior class currently has 48 career wins, and one more would give the Class of 2009 sole possession of third among all classes in Yale history.

Yale-Quinnipiac
This will be the third meeting between the Bulldogs and the Bobcats this season. Yale beat Quinnipiac 2-0 at the Nutmeg Classic in November, a game that did not count in the ECAC Hockey standings. Sophomore goalie Jackee Snikeris (Downingtown, Pa.) made 17 saves for the shutout, while junior defenseman Alyssa Clarke (Donkin, N.S.) and senior forward Crysti Howser (Wilmette, Ill.) scored goals. The Bulldogs also beat the Bobcats 2-1 at TD Banknorth Sports Center three weeks ago, with freshman forward Aleca Hughes (Westwood, Mass.) notching the game-winner with three seconds left. Senior defenseman Helen Resor (Greenwich, Conn.) also scored, and freshman goalie Genny Ladiges (Almonte, Ont.) made 16 saves.

Yale-Princeton
Yale rallied from a 1-0 deficit and a 2-1 deficit, but Princeton ultimately prevailed 3-2 on a third-period goal by defenseman Katherine Dineen when these two teams met at Baker Rink three weeks ago. Freshman goalie Genny Ladiges (Almonte, Ont.) made 23 saves.
