Resor Selected for USA Hockey Holiday Camp
NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Yale senior defenseman Helen Resor
(Greenwich, Conn.) has been selected to be part of a group of 58 of
the nation’s top women’s ice hockey players that will
convene in Blaine, Minn., for USA Hockey’s annual
Women’s Holiday Camp from Dec. 26 to Dec. 31.
Resor has the most international experience of any Bulldog, having
become the first Yale player to make an Olympic team roster when
she was named to Team USA for the 2006 Torino games. Resor and Team
USA earned a bronze medal. She has also participated in two IIHF
World Championships, earning a gold medal in 2005 and a silver
medal in 2007, and has been a part of three silver-medal efforts at
the Four Nations Cup.
Resor, a preseason All-ECAC Hockey selection this year, is tied
for 14th on Yale’s career assists list (39), is 18th on
Yale’s career points list (62) and is 22nd on Yale’s
career goals list (23). Her sister, Jane '01, played for Yale and
is married to Jeff Hamilton '00, the Yale's men’s hockey
team’s all-time leading scorer. Her cousin Carry is a senior
forward/defenseman for the Bulldogs and her cousin Nina ’07
also played for Yale.
The Holiday Camp, which Resor attended last year as well, serves
as a tryout and training session for the U.S. Women's National Team
and U.S. Women's National Under-18 Team, both of which participate
in world championships in the early part of 2009. The 2009 IIHF
Women’s World Championship takes place Apr. 4-12 in
Hameenlinna, Finland and includes the USA, Canada, China, Finland,
Japan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Sweden and Switzerland. The U.S. won
gold at the event in 2008.
With a 10-member coaching staff on hand, the U.S. athletes will be
split into three teams for daily practices, strength training and
scrimmages. Resor is on the Blue team.
