Team Notes: Yale Opens Versus UNH
The following article appeared October 23 on the Yale Web site.
NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Some teams choose to ease into their season
by scheduling a lesser opponent for the opener. Not Yale. The
Bulldogs will start 2008-09 facing No. 4 New Hampshire (Saturday,
5:00 p.m., live stats and pay-per-view video on New Hampshire
website) at the Whittemore Center, where the Wildcats are 91-9-11
since the start of the 2002-03 season.
Yale enters the 2008-09 season with a veteran roster that includes
eight seniors, and all 70 goals from last year are back. Senior
forward Crysti Howser (Wilmette, Ill.) has led the Bulldogs in
scoring in each of her first three seasons; she's coming off a
10-19-29 campaign and was on USA Hockey's Under-22 team over the
summer. The top returning goal scorer is senior forward Sarah
Tittman (Chilton, Wisc.), the team captain, who lit the lamp a
career-high 12 times last year.
Sophomore Jackee Snikeris (Downingtown, Pa.) set the school record
for goals-against average (2.18) and had a .921 save percentage
while appearing in 16 games as part of a platoon last year.
Snikeris, Howser and junior defenseman Alyssa Clarke (Donkin, N.S.)
were all honorable mention All-Ivy League selections last season.
