Why hello there, kids. I last left off, well, before the season had ended. So let us recap the last few glorious weeks of the 2010-2011 Union women’s hockey season.
It all started the day of our first league win of the year. This was against Brown on February 5, 2011 (yes, I know, we haven’t chatted in a while). It was also our Pink at the Rink fundraiser day. Since Pink at the Rink began 4 years ago, our team has raised over $26,500. This year, instead of donating our collected funds to breast cancer research, as we have in years passed, we found a cause much closer to home to raise money for. Shelly Shinebarger, the Director of Student Services at Union, knows all of the Canadians on the team because she has to deal with all their weird accents and love of maple syrup as they re-enter the country after each time they go home. She makes sure they get back to Union safe and sound once they cross the border with all their passport and I-20 form signing and whatever else they need signed. W-2, I-9, 401 K, and WD-40. All of that stuff.
