Kilstein Begins Coaching Career

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Former Union standout Ashley Kilstein has been named head coach at Plymouth State University. Kilstein spent the past season as assistant coach at Williams College. She takes over for Darcy Corson, who guided the Panthers the past two seasons.

Kilstein a four-year letterwinner at Union, recorded 25 points (10 goals, 15 assists) in 113 career games. She led the team in points in 2004-05 and earned the team's Unsung Hero award in 2007-08. She was also active as the women's ice hockey representative for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and the Student Advancement Committee.  Kilstein has been active in coaching since 2005 at Rinksport, a specialty camp in Rhode Island for female hockey players.

“We are pleased to announce Ashley Kilstein as our new women's ice hockey coach,” said PSU director of athletics John Clark.  “Our program is still very young and on the way up, and we believe Ashley can help us build our team into a competitive Division III program.  She comes in highly recommended and we're confident she will do an outstanding job.”

Kilstein made such an impact with the Dutchwomen that she was named the recipient of a newly created award for dedication to the community and being an outstanding citizen.  The award is given annually and is now named the Ashley Kilstein '08 Award for community service efforts.

“I'm very excited and honored for this opportunity,” said Kilstein, “and ready to help develop this team in what is already a great community of students, faculty, and administrators.  There is certainly a lot of hard work ahead, but there is plenty of reward in being able to work with an exceptional group of current Plymouth State student-athletes who are excited to move forward.
