Boe Completes Union Coaching Staff
SCHENECTADY, NY - Union College head coach Claudia Asano has named Ali Boe an assistant coach, completing the Dutchwomen's staff for the upcoming season. A former standout goaltender at Harvard, Boe joins first-year assistant coach Ashley Shaidle and is slated to start her duties immediately.
"Union College presents a great opportunity for me," said Boe. "It's a great program and it's moving in the right direction. I'm excited to come work with Claudia and Ashley and this group of quality student-athletes."
Boe posted a 10-1-0 record with the Calgary Oval X-Treme of the Western Women's Hockey League last season, leading the team to its third consecutive WWHL Championship title. During her tenure with the X-Treme, she also served as a coach at the Oval Goalie School and as the training facilities monitor. Boe has also served as an instructor at Stauber's Goalcrease and Showcase Hockey, both in Edina, MN.
"We're excited for Ali to join our staff," commented Asano. "She is an excellent goalie with a great hockey background. We are fortunate that she has decided to make the transition into coaching and feel that her knowledge and enthusiasm will be a great fit for the program."
A four-year letter-winner at Harvard, Boe backstopped the Crimson to three-straight ECAC Hockey League tournament titles and three Frozen Four championship game appearances from 2003-2005. She was selected to the 2005 and 2006 ECACHL All-Tournament teams and was a Frozen Four All-Tournament team selection in 2005. Boe was twice named All-Ivy Honorable Mention and was tabbed ECACHL Goalie of the Week four times in her career.
A native of Edina, MN, Boe earned a Bachelor of Arts in sociology from Harvard University in 2006.
