Wisner Named Saints' Associate Head Coach

CANTON, NY -- Ted Wisner, who has served the St. Lawrence hockey program as an assistant coach since the 2004-05 season, has been promoted to the position of Associate Head Coach.

Wisner, a native of Canton, served as the head coach at Colgate, leading the Raiders' progression from Division III status to Division I status from June 1999 through June 2002. While head coach of the Raiders, Wisner posted a 48-23-9 record and was named the American Hockey Coaches Association College Division National Coach of the Year in 2000. That same year, he was also named the ECAC Division III Coach of the Year.

After serving as an assistant coach for the Clarkson University women's hockey team in 2003-04, Wisner joined the Saints coach staff the following season. He served as the team's recruiting coordinator and assisted in all other facets of the job.

"I am very excited about the opportunity that both Margie (Strait) and Paul (Flanagan) have given me," said Wisner. "I am looking forward to the season and getting things started in a few months."

Wisner will be beside head coach Paul Flanagan on the Saints bench in 2007-08, as Flanagan is set to enter his ninth season at the helm for the women's hockey team. In June, Flanagan was named an assistant coach for the U.S. Women's Select and National Teams. A search is currently underway to fill the Assistant Head Coaching vacancy left by Jodi McKenna, who has been named the women's hockey head coach at Wesleyan University after spending nine seasons with the Scarlet and Brown.
