TROY – The task is easy for Rensselaer Polytechnic
Institute’s women’s hockey team; win at Cornell tonight
(7) and at Colgate on Saturday (4 p.m.) and the Engineers will
finish fourth —– perhaps even third — in the ECAC
Hockey standings.
Either way, they will host an opening-round, best-of-three series
in the eight-team league playoffs. It will be the first time RPI
has played at home in the postseason in its five-year Division I
history.
Reading the opening paragraph was as simple for you to read as it
was for this writer to pen. Accomplishing the feat for the
Engineers, however, will be a major chore. The only easy aspect, of
course, is pointing out that they won’t need any help from
another team if they win both their games.
