TROY — When Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute women’s
hockey program elevated to the Division I level in 2006, head coach
John Burke knew he had to make a pretty big recruiting haul with
his first all-Division I recruiting class.
While he was limited in quantity, the five Class of 2010 players
Burke brought to RPI were of the utmost quality.
Center-winger Whitney Naslund, defenseman Laura Gersten, wingers
Allison Wright and Allysen Weidner and center Rossli Chace, who
moved to defense for her senior year, have been outstanding,
helping the Engineers reach the ECAC Hockey Tournament semifinals
for the second straight year this season.
