TROY — Hey, you know that old hockey adage about “any
team with a hot goaltender in the playoffs …?
Well, the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute women’s team has
a sizzling goaltender in sophomore Sonja van der Bliek, the
reigning ECAC Hockey Player of the Week, so the 6th-seeded
Engineers would seem to have a good chance to knock off 3rd-seeded
Princeton as the eight-team league playoffs open this weekend.
The best-of-three series opens tonight at 7 at Princeton’s
Hobey Baker Rink. Games 2 and 3 (if necessary) will be played
Saturday and Sunday, each at 4 p.m.
