Team Notes: Rensselaer Set for Playoffs

TROY, NY – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI)
women’s ice hockey team, playing in its third season in ECAC
Hockey, will make its second appearance in the conference playoffs
this weekend. The Engineers enter as the sixth-seed and will play
at third-seeded Princeton in Princeton, N.J., in a best-of-three
quarterfinals, beginning Friday at 7pm. Game times for Saturday and
Sunday’s (if necessary) contests are scheduled for 4pm.
Under the direction of sixth-year head coach John Burke,
Rensselaer posted a 16-13-4 overall record and an 11-8-3 mark in
ECACH play. In addition to the squad’s 16 victories, the most
since elevating to the Division I level, the Engineers finished
with a conference record above .500 for the first time since
joining ECAC Hockey in 2006-07.
Rookie center Alisa Harrsion (Vienna, VA/Washington Pride) leads
the team in scoring with 28 points (12 goals, 16 assists) in 33
games. Recognized five times with ECAC Hockey Weekly awards,
including Rookie of the Week twice, she has eight goals and a
team-best 11 assists in 22 league contests. Harrison, who is 15th
nationally in points per game by a rookie (0.85), has at least one
point in 19 games, including seven with multiple points.
