RPI Hosts Food Drive

TROY, N.Y. -- As part of Greek Night, the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women’s ice hockey team is teaming with RPI fraternities and sororities for a canned food drive. Fans are asked to bring a non-perishable food item to Friday’s game as the Engineers take on Clarkson University at 7 p.m. at the Houston Field House.

Admission to the game is free and a prize raffle will be held for all those who make a contribution. Tickets for the raffle will be distributed upon donation. All contributions will be delivered by the Greeks to Joseph’s House & Shelter in Troy.

Rensselaer’s fraternities and sororities will also be offering free hot chocolate to fans during the game.

In addition to Friday’s contest, the Engineers also host the 4th-ranked team in the nation, St. Lawrence, on Saturday afternoon at 4pm. That game marks the first meeting of the season between the two squads and the eighth all-time meeting.

Saturday’s contest will be broadcast live on WRPI, 91.5 FM, and www.wrpi.org. Both games will feature live stats at http://www.sidearmstats.com/rpi/whockey/ and will be webcast live by B2 Networks at http://www.b2livetv.com/partner_members.asp?id=27.

Rensselaer’s women’s hockey team, which is 11-9-3 overall, is currently fifth in the ECAC Hockey standings with a 6-4-2 record. Clarkson (12-6-4; 6-2-2 ECACH) comes into this weekend tied with the Engineers in the conference standings while the #4 Saints (14-5-3; 8-1-1 ECACH) are third.
