TROY — Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute women’s hockey
coach John Burke was cautiously optimistic that the program could
enjoy success quickly four years ago when he led the team’s
elevation to the Division I level.
He and the Engineers have delivered, making the ECAC Hockey
playoffs for the second time in three seasons this year and
reaching the league semifinals after upsetting Princeton in last
week’s quarterfinals.
The 6th-seeded Engineers (18-13-4 overall) battle No. 1 seed
Harvard (19-9-3) on the Crimson’s Bright Center rink at 1
p.m. At 4, 2nd-seeded St. Lawrence (24-9-3) and 4th-seeded
Dartmouth (18-9-4).
