TROY — It's been a quick trip to credibility for the RPI
women's hockey team, whose move to Division I for the 2005-06
season has already resulted in its first appearance in the final
four in ECAC Hockey.
The sixth-seeded Engineers (18-13-4 overall) take on
regular-season champion and top seed Harvard (19-9-3) on Saturday
in Cambridge, hoping to make it to Sunday's championship game
against the winner of St. Lawrence-Dartmouth and a possible berth
in the NCAA Tournament.
And it isn't as though RPI doesn't have a legitimate chance to
advance. The Engineers and Harvard played a 1-1 overtime tie at
Harvard, and the Crimson barely held off RPI 5-4 in Troy in their
other meeting.
