TROY, N.Y. -- For the first time since elevating to the Division
I level in 2005-06, the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI)
women’s ice hockey team will be playing in the ECAC Hockey
Women's Semifinals at the Bright Hockey Center in Cambridge, Mass.
The sixth-seeded Engineers face host and top-seeded Harvard
University on Saturday at 1 p.m.
The winner of Saturday’s game between the Engineers and
Crimson will move on to Sunday’s ECAC Hockey championship
game at 2pm, where they will face either second-seeded St. Lawrence
University or fourth-seeded Dartmouth College.
Playing in just its third season in ECAC Hockey, Rensselaer made
program history last weekend, winning its first-ever quarterfinal
series at Princeton. The Engineers picked up their first playoff
win in Friday’s 2-1 double overtime victory and claimed the
sweep the following day with a 1-0 shutout of the Tigers.
