Engineers Help Fight Cancer
ALBANY, N.Y. -- The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI)
women’s ice hockey team recently participated in the American
Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk.
The event, which took place in Albany’s Washington Park,
featured more than 13,000 walkers and raised an astounding $1.05
million.
The Engineers, consisting of 24 walkers, both players and coaches,
raised a grand total of $2,150 for the cause. Which was more than
$1,150 than their goal. For last season's walk, the women's hockey
team raised a total of $2,515 toward the fight against Breast
Cancer.
The Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk is a
non-competitive walk to help fight breast cancer and provide hope
to people facing the disease. Participation in the event supports
the American Cancer Society’s lifesaving research,
prevention, early detection, and support programs for thousands of
patients and their families.
