Vigilanti Top Quinnipiac Performer in December
Quinnipiac junior Victoria Vigilanti (Woodbrigde, Ontario) has been named December's Female Athlete of the Month by Quinnipiac Athletics.
Vigilanti, named the ECAC Hockey/Fischer-Hockey Player And Goaltender Of The Month on Jan. 3, 2012, was a perfect 63-of-63 in save opportunities between the pipes during the month of December, turning in three-straight shutout performances for the first-place Bobcats. She helped the squad to a 3-0 win over Brown on Friday, Dec. 2 with a 16-save evening, followed by a game-high 26 saves against Princeton on Friday, Dec. 9 during the team's 1-0 win. Vigilanti retained perfection in the month with another 21 saves the following Saturday, Dec. 10 against Princeton, leading Quinnipiac into its winter break with a program-high seven consecutive victories. The junior finished the month as the NCAA Division I Women's Ice Hockey leader with six shutouts on the season, and moved into a four-way tie for sixth place all-time among NCAA Division I Women's Ice Hockey Goaltenders with 20 career shutouts.
