About Boston College
The Eagles are coming off a 4-1 victory over No. 8
Northeastern on Friday, Nov. 18. Sophomore Taylor Wasylk led the
charge with two goals scored, while freshman Alex Carpenter and
junior Ashley Motherwell each added another score for Boston
College. Junior goaltender Corinne Boyles made 28 saves in net.
Overall, Carpenter leads the team with 15 points (eight goals,
seven assists), followed by fellow freshman Emily Feld's 11 points
(four goals, seven assists). Boyles has accumulated a .912 save
percentage to go along with a 2.20 goals against
average.
All-Time Against The Eagles
Tuesday's contest will be the
20th time the two sides face
each other. The team's last met earlier this season on Friday, Oct.
21, with Boston College coming away with a 5-0 victory. The Eagles
received goals from five different skaters, including senior Andrea
Green, junior Caitlin Walsh, senior Danielle Welch, junior Ashley
Motherwell and freshman Emily Feld. Boyles made 11 saves for Boston
College, while junior goaltender Victoria Vigilanti
(Woodbridge, Ontario) made 30 saves for the
Bobcats.
Last Time Out
Quinnipiac was defeated, 7-1, by No. 2/3 Cornell on
Saturday, Nov. 19. The Big Red's steady offensive attack saw three
goals scored in each of the first and second periods of play to
take control of the game. Sophomore Megan Hagg (Ajax,
Ontario) netted her second goal of the season for Quinnipiac,
coming in the third period of play. Junior goaltender Victoria
Vigilanti and freshman Chelsea Laden (Lakeville,
Minn.) combined to make 26 saves in goal for the
Bobcats.
New All-Time Points Leader
Sophomore forward Kelly Babstock
(Mississauga, Ontario) became the Quinnipiac women's ice
hockey team's all-time points leader with four points (two
goals, two assists) in the team's 6-2 win on Friday, Nov. 18
against Colgate. Babstock's game-winning goal in the second period
of play doubled as her 74th
career point, passing Quinnipiac's previous all-time points
leader, Vicki Graham, who finished her career in 2007 with 73
career points. Babstock, who surpassed Graham in just her
50th career game played, leads
the team with 17 points (eight goals, nine assists) on the
season.
Kosta Heating Up
Freshman Nicole Kosta (Mississauga, Ontario)
added to her team-high total of nine assists with two helpers
against Colgate on Friday, Nov. 18. Kosta now ranks tied for
4th among all ECAC Hockey with
.75 assists per game and 8th
in the league overall with seven league points (one goal, six
assists).
Top-10
Babstock and Kosta are currently fourth and tied for
eighth, respectively, among all ECAC Hockey skaters in league
points per game. Babstock has a 1.50 average, while Kosta
holds a 0.88 mark.
Two Is Better Than One
Babstock's two goals against Colgate marked the first
time this season in which a Quinnipiac skater scored multiple goals
in a game. The last time a Bobcats skater netted two or more goals
came on February 2, 2011, when Babstock scored two goals against
Union.
Power-Play Success
Quinnipiac took advantage of its extra skater advantages
on Friday evening against Colgate, scoring a season-high two goals
during its power-play opportunities. Junior Regan
Boulton (Brandon, Manitoba) and Kosta each netted power-play
goals for Quinnipiac in victory.
Quick Strike
Junior Brittany Lyons' (Canton, Mass.) goal
just 52 seconds into the third period of play on Friday against
Colgate marked the fasted goal scored for the Bobcats since Regan
Boulton's goal 44 seconds into the second period of play on Friday,
Nov. 4, 2011 against Yale.
Looking Ahead
Following Tuesday's contest against No. 4 Boston College, the
Bobcats travel to face Connecticut at 4 p.m. in the first round of
the annual Nutmeg Classic Tournament on Friday, Nov.
25.
