Team Notes: Quinnipiac Hosts Yale and Brown

The Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team (3-5-0) (2-0-0
ECAC Hockey) hosts its first two ECAC Hockey games of the season
when Yale (0-5-0) (0-2-0 ECAC Hockey) and Brown (1-1-1) (0-1-1 ECAC
Hockey) come into town on Friday, Nov. 4 and Saturday, Nov. 5.
Friday's game against Yale is set for a 7 p.m. start, while
Saturday's contest versus Brown will begin at 4 p.m.

About Yale
The Bulldogs are coming off a 9-3 loss to Providence on
Tuesday, Nov. 1. Junior Danielle Moncion, sophomore Jackie Raines
and sophomore Ashley Dunbar each scored for Yale, but the Friars
were able to tally three goals in each period to take the
commanding victory. Overall, Raines leads the squad with two goals,
while freshman Stephanie Mock follows with a team-high two assists.
Senior goaltender Genny Ladiges has played the majority of minutes
in net and has accumulated a .859 save percentage to go along with
a 5.91 goals against average.
All-Time Against The Bulldogs
Friday's contest against Yale will be the
22nd time the two sides have
faced each other. Despite Yale's 13-6-2 all-time series lead, the
Bobcats have won four of the last five times the teams have met. In
their last meeting on February 18, 2011, Yale came away with a 1-0
shutout victory. The Bobcats outshout the Bulldogs 35-to-12, yet
were unable to get one by senior goaltender Jackee Snikeris.
Sophomore netminder Victoria Vigilanti (Woodbridge,
Ontario) turned away 11 shots in goal for
Quinnipiac.
About Brown
The Bears are coming off a 9-0 loss to Cornell on
Saturday, Oct. 29. The Big Red took over the game early, scoring
two goals in the first frame, four in the second, and three in the
third. Overall, the Bears are led by senior Katelyn Landry (four
goals) and sophomore Emilie Dolan's (two goals, two assists) four
points, while freshman Janice Yang leads the team with three
assists on the season. Sophomore goaltender Aubree Moore has
accumulated a 2.07 goals against average to go along with a .935
save percentage.
All-Time Against The Bears
Saturday's contest will be the 15th
time the two sides face each other, as the Bears hold a 6-5-3
all-time series lead. In their last meeting on February 19, 2011,
the two sides skated to a 3-3 tie in what marked the final game of
the regular season. Junior Bethany Dymarczyk (Hamden,
Conn.) figured in all three Quinnipiac goals, contributing one goal
and two assists on the afternoon. Sophomore Regan
Boulton (Brandon, Manitoba) netted the game-tying goal for
the Bobcats with just under four minutes remaining in regulation.
Vigilanti made 25 saves in net for Quinnipiac in the
contest.
Last Time Out
Quinnipiac played impressively in its ECAC Hockey opening
weekend games against Rensselaer and Union on Friday, Oct. 28 and
Saturday, Oct. 29. On Friday against the Engineers, Vigilanti
turned in her second shutout of the season
(16th career) to lead the
Bobcats to a 2-0 victory. Sophomore Kelly Babstock
(Mississauga, Ontario) and senior Jordan Elkins
(Wasilla, Alaska) each scored the Quinnipiac in the win.
On Saturday, the Bobcats offense founds its groove, scoring a season-high five goals en route to a 5-1 win over Union. All five goals came from different skaters, as junior Breann Frykas (East St. Paul, Manitoba), sophomore Amanda Colin (Burnsville, Minn.), junior Kristen Eklund (Barrington, R.I.), Babstock and Elkins each tallied a goal. Vigilanti had another solid game in net, making 19 saves in goal.
History Repeats Itself
Saturday's win over Union marked the
17th win over the Dutchwomen
in program history. Quinnipiac has never lost to Union, as it holds
a 17-0-3 all-time series lead.
Quick Strikes
Quinnipiac scored early and often in the third period of
play against Union, as Eklund and Elkins' two goals, scored at the
1:06 mark and 1:36 mark were separated by just 30
seconds.
Heating Up
Babstock has scored a goal in four of the last five
games, giving her at total of seven points (four goals, three
assists) on the season.
Good Things Happen When…
Boulton leads the team with a +6 mark on the season. In
2010-11 Dymarczyk led all Quinnipiac defenders with a +21 mark,
while Babstock led the team with a +30 mark.
Looking Ahead
Following this weekend's games, Quinnipiac heads out on the road
to play Clarkson and Saint Lawrence on Friday, Nov. 11 and
Saturday, Nov. 12. Friday's game against the Golden Knights will
start at 7 p.m., while Saturday's game against the Saints is
scheduled for a 4 p.m. start.
