Team Notes: Quinnipiac Prepares for Final Regular-Season Road Series

The Quinnipiac University women's ice hockey team will head north this weekend to take on Cornell and Colgate in their final regular-season road series of 2009-10. The Bobcats will play the Big Red first on Friday at 7 p.m., followed by a 4 p.m. start at Colgate on Saturday. Quinnipiac most recently defeated Union, 3-1, on Jan. 30.

Scouting the Big Red

Cornell currently posts a 10-8-5 overall record and holds a 9-2-5 record in ECAC Hockey, good for 23 points and second place in the league. The Big Red most recently lost to the number one team in the conference, Clarkson, by a one-goal margin on Jan. 30. The last time the Bobcats took on Cornell the teams tied, 3-3, on Nov. 21. Sophomore forward Catherine White leads the Big Red offensively, as she has tallied seven goals and 17 assists for 24 points on the year. Sophomore goaltender Amanda Mazzotta has played in 22 games this season for Cornell, and posts a .912 save percentage.

Scouting the Raiders
Colgate holds an 8-16-4 overall record this season with a 4-8-4 mark in the ECAC, placing them in ninth with 12 points in conference play. In their last outing, the Raiders defeated St. Lawrence, 2-1, on Jan. 30. Earlier this season, Quinnipiac tied Colgate, 1-1, at the TD Bank Sports Center. Senior forward Katie Stewart leads the Raiders and the ECAC with 17 goals, in addition to tallying 12 assists for a total of 29 points on the year. Goaltenders Kim Sass and Lisa Plenderleith have split time in net this season, with Plenderleith holding a .884 save percentage, and Sass posting a .858.
