Quinnipiac Honors Babstock

HAMDEN, Conn. - Quinnipiac University women's ice hockey freshman forward Kelly Babstock (Mississauga, Ontario) has been named Quinnipiac's Female Athlete of the Month for November.

Babstock's record-breaking November included 10 goals and five assists, as she increased her team-high totals to 15 goals and 18 assists on the season overall. On Nov. 2, in a 5-2 victory over Princeton, Babstock scored her first goal of the month. She picked up a goal and an assist on Nov. 5 in a 3-2 victory over Union. Babstock's first-career hat trick came on Nov. 12 against Harvard in a 4-1 victory. The freshman made Quinnipiac women's ice hockey history when she collected her second-career hat trick the following night in a 4-3 overtime loss to Dartmouth. No Bobcat before Babstock had previously recorded two hat tricks in the same season. Babstock eclipsed Quinnipiac's single-season points (30) and assists (17) records when she netted a program single-game record six points (two goals, four assists) on Nov. 26 in 9-1 victory over Sacred Heart.

Babstock was awarded ECAC Hockey/MLX Skates Rookie of the Week twice during the month, the first on Nov. 16, after her back-to-back hat trick performances, and again on Nov. 30 following her six-point performance. The freshman helped lead Quinnipiac to a 6-3-0 record during the month.
