Vigilanti Recognized Again as Quinnipiac Athlete of Month
HAMDEN, Conn. - The Quinnipiac University Department of
Athletics and Recreation has named freshman goaltender Victoria
Vigilanti (Woodbridge, Ontario) the February Athlete of the Month.
This is the second time as Female Athlete of the Month for
Vigilanti.
Vigilanti anchored the Bobcats during the month of February where
the team went 5-2-2 to close out the 2009-10 season. The rookie
tallied a .973 save percentage throughout the month with a .072
goals against average, leading Quinnipiac to host its first ECAC
postseason berth in program history. Vigilanti's efforts in net
were widely recognized in February, as she was named to the ECAC
All-Conference First Team and the conference All-Rookie team last
week, in addition to being named ECAC Rookie of the Week twice, and
Goaltender of the Week once. It was a month of saves for the
Ontario native, as she matched her career high save mark (37)
against Cornell on Feb. 5 and turned aside 120 saves through the
playoff series with Rensselaer. Vigilanti concluded the regular
season ranked atop the conference in save percentage (.951), goals
against (1.23) and saves (891).
