Q & A with Tia Wishart
The following article featuring Quinnipiac goaltender Tia Wishart appeared February 10 on the Quinnipiac Web site.
QuinnipiacBobcats.com recently caught up with women’s ice
hockey sophomore goaltender Tia Wishart. The Vancouver, British
Columbia native has seen action in 17 games this season for the
Bobcats compiling a 2.62 goals-against average and a .914 save
percentage.
What was it like moving from Vancouver to Hamden?
Wishart's posted a 2.62 goals-against average and a .914 save
percentage
in 17 games with the Bobcats.
There actually wasn’t that much of a change. I’m from
a small town on Vancouver Island and Hamden is very similar to it.
The only difference is there were the beautiful mountains and trees
that I saw back home. I’ve been on so many travelling sports
teams that being away from home never really affected me that much.
I like the independence I have here at Quinnipiac.
What’s the biggest misconception about being a
goalie?
I don’t think there’s really a misconception about
being a goalie, but we can be a little crazy and odd at times. The
goalie can either make or break a game. I don’t think a lot
of players really want that responsibility for 60 minutes, at least
the sane ones.
