Quinnipiac Releases 2009-10 Schedule
HAMDEN, Conn. -- The Quinnipiac University Department of Athletics has announced the women's ice hockey schedule for the 2009-10 season. The season is highlighted by the USA Women's Olympic Team coming to the TD Bank Sports Center to face the ECAC Hockey All-Stars on Sunday, Jan. 3. The Bobcats will also face the University of New Hampshire, a team that was nationally ranked last season, on Sunday, Oct. 4.

"Being in ECAC Hockey ensures an exceptional slate of games every
year,” head coach Rick Seeley said. “We are also
excited to add the University of New Hampshire to our schedule. We
also welcome back Wayne State University, who has been knocking on
the top-10 door for the last few years. We definitely look forward
to our annual Nutmeg Classic Tournament, with Yale and UConn, as
well as making a firm commitment to our fourth Connecticut Division
I women's ice hockey program, Sacred Heart. Overall it is a great
schedule and we look forward to making up some ground in our
conference standings."
The 2009-10 season kicks off with an exhibition game against the
Bluewater Jr. Hawks from Ontario. The Bobcats will face the Hawks
on Friday, Sept. 25 at the TD Bank Sports Center at 2 p.m. The
following week the Bobcats host their first regular season game
against Sacred Heart on Oct. 3 at 2 p.m.
Quinnipiac will play its next three games on the road in
non-conference play. The first stop is the University of New
Hampshire on Oct. 4 at 2 p.m., followed by a weekend in Boston when
the Bobcats take on Boston College and Northeastern on Oct. 16 and
17. The month of October will close with four straight home games.
Niagara University comes to town the weekend of Oct. 23 for a
two-game series. Friday's game will start at 7 p.m. and Saturday's
puck will drop at 4 p.m. The month will close with the first ECAC
Hockey match-ups of the season when the Bobcats take on Union on
Oct. 30 and Rensselaer on Oct. 31.
The majority of November's games will be played on the road,
starting with conference foes Brown and Yale on the weekend of Nov.
6. The following weekend will be played at Harvard and Dartmouth,
taking on the Crimson Friday at 7 p.m. and the Big Green Saturday
at 4 p.m. The Bobcats will return home on Nov. 20 and 21 to host
Colgate and Cornell at the TD Bank. The final weekend of the month
is devoted to the Nutmeg Classic, which will be hosted by Yale this
year. The Bobcats will play UConn on Friday, Nov. 27 before taking
on the Yale or Sacred Heart on Saturday, Nov. 28 in the deciding
game.
December presents three contests for the Bobcats. The team will
travel to Clarkson and St. Lawrence on Dec. 4 and 5 before a
three-week hiatus. Quinnipiac will play the Golden Knights on
Friday at 3:30 p.m. and the Saints on Saturday at 2 p.m. The
Bobcats will take the ice one last time in 2009 when they host
Princeton on New Years Eve at 12 p.m.
The New Year starts at the Hobey Baker Rink when the Bobcats take
on Princeton on Saturday, Jan. 2 at 1 p.m. The Bobcats return for
the Olympic match-up with the ECAC All-Stars on Jan. 3. The
full-day event will include a Connecticut Polar Bears and Hamden
High girl's hockey game before the headlining contest at 2 p.m.
The TD Bank hosts Harvard and Dartmouth on Jan. 8 and 9. The
Bobcats will play the Big Green on Friday at 3 p.m. and the Crimson
on Saturday at 4 p.m. Quinnipiac will take its first trip to
Syracuse the following weekend to take on the second-year program
on Jan. 15 and 16. The team will return home the next weekend to
host a two-game series against Wayne State. Both games will start
at 4 p.m. The last weekend of January will be played at Rensselaer
and Union. The Bobcats take on the Engineers on Friday, Jan. 29 at
7 p.m. and the Dutchwomen on Saturday at 4 p.m.
February will start with two games on the road, and will close
with four straight contests at home to complete the regular season.
The Bobcats will travel to Cornell and Colgate on Feb. 5 and 6 for
their final regular season road match-ups. St. Lawrence and
Clarkson come to town the following weekend on Feb. 12 and 13
before the final home weekend against rivals Brown and Yale on Feb.
19 and 20, all to be played at the TD Bank Sports Center. The game
on Saturday, Feb. 20 will also serve as senior night to honor the
Class of 2010.
