Quinnipiac Completes Coaching Staff

HAMDEN, CT -- Quinnipiac University Director of Athletics and Recreation Jack McDonald and Women's Ice Hockey Head Coach Rick Seeley today announced that Harry Rosenholtz has been named associate head coach while Cassandra Turner has been named assistant coach. The announcement comes after Seeley was tabbed as the Bobcats' new head coach on April 8.

After coming to Quinnipiac from fellow ECAC Hockey member Clarkson, Seeley completes his new coaching staff with the addition of Rosenholtz and Turner, who both also hail from within the conference. Rosenholtz spent the previous nine seasons with Yale University, including the last six seasons as the team's associate head coach. Turner served as an assistant coach at Colgate last year.

"This is a great day for Quinnipiac women's hockey and Quinnipiac University," Seeley said. "With Harry and Cassie we have added two exceptional people whose knowledge of the game is second to none. Our staff now has more than 17 years of experience coaching and recruiting in ECAC Hockey, which will be invaluable with the challenge we have ahead of us. I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to build this program with such quality individuals by my side."

While at Yale, Rosenholtz served in multiple capacities. In addition to his responsibilities as the team's goaltending coach, Rosenholtz coordinated the Bulldogs' recruiting efforts and assisted in game preparation and management. He also played an integral role with practice planning, strength and conditioning, academic oversight, and intercollegiate scheduling.

"I have always had a great deal of respect for Harry as a person and a coach," Seeley said. "I am thrilled to have him recruiting on our side. There is no one better at it in the business."

In addition to his time at Yale, Rosenholtz is a respected member of the national and international hockey community. A USA Hockey-certified Level 5 Master Coach, Rosenholtz has worked with goaltenders from various women's national programs, including Team Sweden, in Landskrona, Sweden. This year, Rosenholtz was invited to instruct goaltenders at the 2008 USA Hockey Select 16 Development Camp in Rochester, N.Y.

While at Yale, Rosenholtz helped build a program that reached new heights. Rosenholtz coached seven All-ECAC Hockey and 12 All-Ivy League honorees as well as three Hockey Humanitarian Finalists, including the 2007 winner, Kristen Savard.

While at Colgate, Turner coached the team's forwards in addition to coordinating the team's travel and assisting with recruiting efforts. Turner also monitored the team's academic success as 12 Colgate women's ice hockey players were named to the ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team.

Prior to Colgate, Turner was an assistant coach at Division III Elmira College from 2005-07. Elmira finished 2006-07 ranked fifth in the national coaches poll with a 19-5-3 overall mark and a 11-1-2 record in ECAC West. That season Elmira featured the ECAC West Goalie of the Year, three ECAC West First-Team and three All-Rookie selections. Turner also served as Elmira's junior varsity head coach as she implemented a thorough training program focused on individual skill improvement.

"Cassie has impressed me since her first years at Elmira," Seeley said. "There is no question she is one of the great young coaches in our game."

Turner then went on to a successful collegiate career at Brown University. While at Brown, Turner led the Bears to two Ivy League and ECAC Championships while also helping guide the team to the NCAA Finals. Turner was also named to the All-Ivy League and All-ECAC First Teams in 2001-02 while also being named to the New England Hockey Writers All-Star Team. The following season, Turner was an All-Ivy and All-ECAC Second-Team selection while also being named the team's Defensive Most Valuable Player.

Turner's playing career continued as she won the Air Canada Cup Championship in 2003 as a member of the Team Canada Under-22 Team. In 2003-04, Turner helped the Toronto Aeros of the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL) to the regular-season championship before clinching the Esso Women's National Championship. The following season, the Aeros would repeat as national champions as Turner was named the Most Sportsmanlike Player.

Turner graduated from Brown University in 2003 with a bachelor's degree in psychology, and earned a master's degree in education from Elmira College in 2007.
