When glancing at a scoresheet from a Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey game there is usually one name that shows up more than any other on the roster. That name is Elyse Cole, who – after scoring twice against Syracuse University on Oct. 17 – has lit the lamp 36 times during her career. The next tally will make her Quinnipiac’s all-time leading goal scorer.

“I didn’t really know about the record before this weekend,” the Belleville, Ontario native said. “One of my teammates had to tell me about it after reading it online.”

It was Cole’s second goal of the game in a 3-1 victory over the Orange that tied the mark previously set by Vicky Graham ’08 and Gillian Gallagher ’05. After splitting the series with Syracuse, the Bobcats (1-5) travel to Boston, Mass., this weekend for two non-conference matchups against Northeastern and Boston College. If Cole is held scoreless, she will get her chance to break the record the following weekend as the team returns to the TD Banknorth Sports Center on Halloween night to open up the ECAC Hockey season against Harvard.
