Team Notes: Yale and Brown Host Princeton

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Princeton women's hockey team looks to get back on track in ECAC play when the Tigers travel to play at Yale and Brown this weekend, Dec. 2-3. 

Princeton heads into the weekend with a 4-7-1 overall record and a 3-4-1 mark in league play to sit in sixth place in the ECAC standings. Sophomore Sally Butler leads all Tigers in scoring with six goals and six assists for 12 points. Sophomores Denna Laing and Olivia Mucha have 10 points each, with four goals and six helpers apiece. Senior Paula Romanchuk and freshman Ali Pankowski contribute seven points. Senior netminder Rachel Weber has played every minute in goal and has a .915 save percentage and a 2.51 goals against average.

The Tigers defeated the Bulldogs 7-1 in the first meeting this season, on Nov. 5 at Baker Rink. Princeton leads the all-time series 54-11-2.

Yale is 1-12 on the season and 1-5 in the ECAC, its lone win being a 3-2 overtime game against Union. The Bulldogs are led by freshman Stephanie Mock, who has two goals and five assists for seven points. Sophomore Jackie Raines has a team-high five goals and one assist and senior Aleca Hughes has two goals and four assists. Senior Genny Ladiges has started in goal in nine games and has an .884 save percentage and a 4.73 GAA. Freshman Jaimie Leonoff has made four starts and has an .879 save percentage and a 6.24 GAA.

The last time out, Laing scored twice and added two assists. Pankowski, Romanchuk and Butler all had three points. The Tigers had a 5-0 lead before Mock scored a power-play goal. Princeton added two more before the close of the game. Princeton outshot Yale 40-28. Weber made 27 saves, Ladiges made 24 in the first two period before Leonoff stopped nine in the third.

Princeton owns a 35-29-2 advantage in the all-time series with Brown, which began in 1980. The Tigers won the first meeting this season, 1-0, on Nov. 4 at Baker Rink.

Brown enters the weekend 3-3-5 overall and 1-2-3 in ECAC play. A 3-1 loss to Boston College on Sunday, Nov. 27, ended the Bears' six game unbeaten streak (2-0-4). Senior Katelyn Landry is the top scorer for the Bears with six goals and three assists for nine points. Junior Laurie Jolin has three goals and three assists. Freshmen Brittany Moorehead and Janice Yang contribute five points apiece. Brown uses a two goalie system. Sophomore Aubree Moore has started in five games and has a .943 save percentage and a 1.97 GAA. Junior Katie Jamieson has started in six games and has a .944 save percentage and a 2.07 GAA.

In the last game, a power-play goal by Mucha in the second period would decide the game. Princeton outshot Brown 39-9. Weber made nine saves in the shutout, and Moore stopped 38 for Brown.
