Class of Four to Join Tigers Next Season
PRINCETON -- Princeton women's hockey coach Jeff Kampersal has announced the team's incoming class of four players that will join the Tigers for the 2011-12 season as the program's Class of 2015.
"Ashley, Brianna, Brianne, and Ali are super student-athletes," says Kampersal. "They are eager to experience the many wonderful opportunities offered at Princeton. We are eager to welcome them to our Princeton Hockey family."
30 - Ashley Holt
Goaltender • 5-6 • Catches Left
Weston, Conn. • Choate Rosemary Hall
Ashley Holt was a member of two Founders League Champions as a
goalie at Choate Rosemary Hall. Holt went 18-4 with six shutouts in
22 starts as a senior captain and earned the team's Coaches' Award
for dedication, effort, and love of the game. In her career, Holt
was 46-5-4 overall with 22 shutouts in 55 games played. Holt was
the team's Most Improved Player as a junior and was named to the
school's Dean List on three occasions. She also lettered in field
hockey and golf at Choate and played hockey for the Mid-Fairfield
Connecticut Stars.
15 - Brianna Leahy
Forward • 5-7 • Shoots Left
Waterloo, Ont. • Burlington Barracudas
Brianna Leahy played for the Burlington Barracudas in the
Provincial Women's Hockey League. Leahy collected seven goals and
14 assists for 21 points in 35 games last season for the team,
which went 23-10-2 overall. In high school hockey, Leahy was her
team's Rookie of the Year as a freshman and was the team's Most
Valuable Player a year later. Leahy was a successful cross country
and track runner in high school and also played soccer in high
school. Leahy's mother Lisa played field hockey for Canada at the
1984 Summer Olympics.
17 - Brianne Mahoney
Defense • 5-7 • Shoots Right
Clarendon Hills, Ill. • Chicago Mission
Brianne Mahoney played for the Chicago Mission U-19 team last
season and was named a league all-star and to the all-state team.
Prior to that she played three seasons for Team Illinois serving as
a team captain in the 2009-10 and 2008-09 seasons, and an assistant
captain in 2007-08. Mahoney was a Chicago Blackhawks Scholar and
earned a Chicago Blackhawks Alumni Scholarship. She also lettered
in lacrosse and softball in high school, serving as a team captain
in lacrosse.
3 - Ali Pankowski
Defense • 5-10 • Shoots Right
Laguna Hills, Calif. • North American Hockey
Academy
Ali Pankowski spent her last two years playing at the North
American Hockey Academy in Vermont. Last year her team was 80-8-6
and she contributed 20 goals and 29 assists for 49 points in 83
games. Pankowski was named the team's Most Improved Player
following each season. Prior to playing at NAHA, Pankowski played
for the Anaheim Lady Ducks and earned three Bronze medals in four
visits to USA Hockey Nationals.
