Team Notes: No. 3 Cornell & Colgate Visit Baker
PRINCETON, N.J. - The Princeton women's hockey team looks to get
back on track when it hosts No. 3 Cornell on Friday, Nov. 18 at 7
p.m., and Colgate on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 4 p.m.

Princeton lost its first ECAC games of the season with a tough swing through St. Lawrence and Clarkson. The Tigers are 4-3-1 overall and 3-2-1 in league play. Sophomores Sally Butler and Denna Laing each have nine points, while sophomore Olivia Mucha has seven. Butler and Mucha have both scored four goals, while Laing is the team leader in assists with six to her credit. Eight other players have one point or more. Senior Rachel Weber has played every minute in goal and has a 1.75 goals against average and a .933 save percentage. The Tigers' defense, allowing just 1.75 goals per game, is tops in the league. Princeton has has the best penalty killing unit in the ECAC, allowing just three power-play goals on 41 chances (92.7%).
Princeton owns a 40-25-3 record over Cornell since the series began in 1980. The Big Red however is unbeaten in the last five games, going 4-0-1, and taking 5-1 and 1-0 games in the series last year.
Cornell is 5-1 overall and is ranked No. 3 in this week's USCHO national poll. The Big Red picked up their first league loss of the season last weekend in a 5-4 game with Dartmouth. The team followed up with a 5-3 win over Harvard. Cornell earned matching 9-0 wins over Yale and Brown three weeks ago. Five players are in double digits in scoring led by freshman Jillian Saulnier with 12 goals and six assists for 18 points. Sophomore Brianne Jenner and senior Rebecca Johnston both have 13 points. Cornell has split goaltending duties between senior Amanda Mazzotta and sophomore Lauren Slebodnick. Mazzotta is 3-1 with a 2.28 GAA and an .859 save percentage, while Slebodnick is 2-0 with a 1.51 GAA and a .903 save percentage. The Big Red lead the league in scoring offense, averaging 7.00 gpg and has the best power-play in the league converting 14 of 40 (35%).
The Tigers have a substantial 20-5-2 record over Colgate in the all-time series. The teams split last year, with each team winning a 2-0 game on their home ice.
Colgate enters the weekend with a 4-7-1 mark and is 1-3-1 in the ECAC. Junior Brittany Phillips sits atop the scoring column with 15 points on a team-high 10 assists and five goals. Freshman Melissa Kueber has a team-best seven goals to go along with three assists for 10 points. Freshman Miriam Drubel and sophomore Jocelyn Simpson each contribute nine points. Senior Kimberly Sass has played all but 20 minutes in goal. She has a 2.14 GAA and a .929 save percentage.
