Team Notes: Home-and-Home with Quinnipiac Ahead for Princeton

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Princeton women's hockey team will play a home-and-home series with travel partner Quinnipiac, the final games before the holiday. The Tigers host the Bobcats on Friday, Dec. 9 at 7 p.m., before a game in Hamden, Conn., on Saturday, Dec. 10 at 4 p.m.

Princeton leads the all-time series with Quinnipiac 10-3-2. Quinnipiac won its first games in the series last year. The teams split in the regular season with a 5-2 win for Quinnipiac and a 3-0 shutout for Princeton. They met again in the ECAC Quarterfinals with Quinnipiac sweeping Princeton in two, 2-1 and 2-0.

Princeton sports a 6-7-1 overall record and a 5-4-1 mark in league play. The Tigers snapped a six-game losing streak last weekend in a road sweep of Yale and Brown, winning by a combined 8-1 score. Sophomore Sally Butler leads the team in scoring with seven goals and seven assists for 14 points. Sophomore Denna Laing has 13 points with six goals and seven assists, and classmate Olivia Mucha has four goals and six assists for 10 points. Senior Paula Romanchuk and freshman Ali Pankowski contribute eight points apiece. Senior goalie Rachel Weber has a .923 save percentage and a 2.22 goals against average, playing all 14 games.

Quinnipiac is riding a five-game win streak into the weekend. The Bobcats are 11-7-1 overall and 7-2-1 in the ECAC to sit atop the league standings. Sophomore Kelly Babstock has 23 points on 11 goals and 12 assists to lead the offense. Freshman Nicole Kosta also has 12 assists and adds three goals for 15 points. Juniors Breann Frykas and Brittany Lyons have 10 points apiece. Junior goaltender Victoria Vigilanti has played in 17 games and has a .902 save percentage and a 2.29 GAA. Freshman Chelsea Landon has played in four games and has a .917 save percentage and a 2.64 GAA.
