As many students go home for fall break, the women’s ice hockey team will return to Baker Rink today for its first two home games of the year. After a tough 0-2 road trip last weekend to start the season, the Tigers (0-2) come back to Baker Rink with games on back-to-back days against ECAC Hockey rivals Colgate and Cornell to begin league play.
“Playing at home is special. It’s your rink, your home,” junior forward Paula Romanchuk said. “Usually we get a good group of parents and fans too, which I think pumps up the team.”
No stranger to home games, Colgate (2-4) will make its first road trip when it comes to Princeton today. The Raiders have had a rollercoaster season to date. Despite their unimpressive record, the Raiders claimed a victory over No. 8 New Hampshire on Oct. 9 in an impressive 1-0 overtime win. They followed that with a victory over Connecticut and a near-upset of another top-10 opponent, No. 10 Providence, to whom they lost 2-1 in overtime. Colgate fell twice to Wayne State last weekend, 4-0 and 5-3.
