Team Notes: Princeton Opens Campaign at Vermont
The following article appeared October 22 on the Princeton Web site.
PRINCETON -- The puck drops on the 2009-10 Princeton women's
hockey season this weekend as the Tigers open with a pair of games
at Vermont. The Catamounts enter the weekend already having played
four games this season, while Princeton has had two scrimmages.
The Tigers open up on the road for the first time in three
seasons. Princeton hosted its first games in each of the two
previous seasons, tying Boston College to open the 2007-08 season
and falling to Connecticut in the 2008-09 season opener. The loss
to UConn snapped a streak of four straight season openers ending in
ties for the Tigers. The last time Princeton won a season opener
came in the 2003-04 season at Connecticut.
Princeton was 18-11-2 a season ago and finished third in the ECAC
Hockey standings. The Tigers graduated three of their top seven
scorers and their starting goaltender from that team. The Tigers
however return nine players that had double-digit point totals last
season, as well as a very experienced defensive core.
