Typical Princeton students spend the month of January stressing out about final exams, studying feverishly until they're done. But freshman defenseman Sasha Sherry of the women's hockey team spent her January playing for the United States U-18 women's hockey team in the inaugural U-18 championships in Calgary, Alb. The U.S. team, which defeated Canada in the finals to take the gold medal, came back from Calgary unbeaten, outscoring its opponents 41-4 during the tournament.
"[Being on the U.S. team] was a great experience," Sherry said. "I really like playing internationally."
Sherry finished the tournament with one goal and two assists, but her most telling statistic was the +13 point differential while she was on the ice. That plus-minus ratio shows the tight defense Sherry is known for.
