Over the years, the town of Winthrop has produced many fine Division 1 players, including the likes of Miracle on Ice hero Mike Eruzione, ex-Bruins defenseman Dale Dunbar, and another pair of former Boston University Terriers, Chuck Sullivan and John Tiano. These days, those stalwarts have to make room on the podium for another townie: Jillian Dempsey.

The Harvard senior has been hitting the back of opposing nets with aplomb this season. On Friday, the 5-foot-4 senior captain erupted for four goals in an 8-1 win over Providence at Bright Hockey Center. Dempsey followed that up with the game-tying tally in the third period of Saturday’s 2-2 result at New Hampshire.

Dempsey leads Harvard (9-1-1) in scoring with 14 goals and 11 assists for 25 points. She ranks second nationally in goals per game (1.27) and third in points per game (2.27). She is riding a 25-game point-scoring streak, dating to last season.
