If they ever get around to staging a second Winter Classic at Fenway Park, the organizers should make sure to include the Harvard women’s hockey team, especially considering the well-entrenched roots freshman defenseman Marissa Gedman has with the ol’ ballyard.
Gedman, the 18-year-daughter of former Red Sox catcher Rich Gedman, is a burgeoning star on the Crimson blue line. The Framingham product, who played at Nobles & Greenough before arriving in Cambridge, has four goals and five assists through 24 games, including the game-tying goal in last Tuesday’s 4-3 shootout victory over Northeastern in the opening round of the Women’s Beanpot. Tomorrow night, Harvard (14-8-3) will try to make it two Beanpot titles in a row when it faces Boston College (19-5-5) in the final at Kelley Rink.
Gedman connected at 16:44 of the third period on a shot from the point into traffic.
