VANCOUVER — U.S. hockey player Angela Ruggiero, a four-time
Olympian, does not know whether she will play in a fifth Olympics.
She is certain of this: She wants to help ensure that women's
hockey, which debuted at the 1998 Winter Games, will be played at a
fifth Olympics — and many more.
"I think our sport just needs a little bit of time to grow," said
Ruggiero, whose new post on the International Olympic Committee's
athletes commission gives her a voice in the matter.
The Olympic status of women's hockey came into question when the
USA and Canada reached Thursday's gold-medal game by posting one
blowout after another in the 2010 Olympic tournament.
