Entry No. 16 — Feb. 24
Sixty minutes left in the 2009-2010 season. It all comes down to
one game.
We got past Sweden in the semifinals in fine fashion, but Thursday
poses the greatest challenge we have faced thus far. We are set to
play Canada for the gold medal. Both teams are the best we have
ever been. The ice is fast, the crowd is amped-up and the rivalry
lives on. There really is nothing more to be said about the final
women's hockey game of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. It needs no
introduction.
Members of the media are fixated on every intricacy of what has
happened in the past, but the reality is, tomorrow is the gold
medal game and anything is possible. Each of us is likely to have
the best game of our lives. I can't even imagine what the pace will
be like, what the highlights will be like, or which of my teammates
will most astound me with her capabilities. We are all just going
to have to wait for things to unfold.
