VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Twelve years is a long time, but
not so far in the past that Jenny Potter still can't get through
the story without laughing.
It was 1998, the year women's hockey was making its Olympic debut,
and Potter and Angela Ruggiero had just checked into their room at
the Athletes Village in Nagano, Japan. At 18 and 19, they were the
youngsters on the squad, and, according to Potter, they certainly
acted like it.
"I was the shy kid. I never said a word," Potter said. "And Angela
was this major extrovert. We were put as roommates, and she'd
always come over and jump on my bed, bouncing on it, acting all
goofy."
