The following article appeared January 28 on the Harvard Web site.
Harvard closes out the month of January with visits to ECAC
Hockey opponents Union and Rensselaer. The Crimson currently sits
in a third-place tie in the conference standings with Colgate and
Princeton with 18 points.
After this weekend’s action, Harvard will ready for the 31st
Women’s Beanpot, held this year at Northeastern’s
Matthews Arena Feb. 3 and 10. The Crimson will battle Boston
University in the opening round, while Boston College will face the
host Huskies. Harvard, which has 12 Beanpots to its credit, won
last year’s tournament.
Series History
Friday’s matchup will be the 12th meeting between Harvard
and Union in a series that dates to the 2003-04 season. The Crimson
has won all 11 previous meetings between the teams and owns a 82-1
advantage in goals in those games. Harvard downed Union, 5-0,
earlier this season back on Nov. 8. Senior Brittany Martin and
sophomore Kylie Stephens combined for 12 saves and the shutout,
while senior Sarah Wilson scored twice to lead the offense.
