Brine Nominated to Compete in Frozen Four Skills Challenge
INDIANAPOLIS -- Senior forward Jenny Brine of the Harvard
women's hockey team is one of 34 women's players vying for one of
16 spots at the 2009 Frozen Four Skills Challenge which will be
held April 10 at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C.
Beginning Feb. 4, fans can vote online at NCAA.com to select six
position players and two goalies for each gender of the East team
and each gender of the West team. The original list of 140 players
was trimmed to 68 by the selection committee.

A total of 32 senior male and female student-athletes will be
selected in this east versus west competition in the following
events: puck control relay, fastest skater, hardest shot, accuracy
shooting, rapid fire shooting and penalty shot competition. The
selection committee will take all voting into consideration prior
to making its announcement of the final rosters by the end of
February. Fan voting concludes Wednesday, Feb. 18.
The Frozen Four Skills Challenge will highlight the "Friday Night
at the Frozen Four," as the evening will also include the
presentation of the Hobey Baker Memorial Award, the Hockey
Humanitarian Award and the announcement of the American Hockey
Coaches Association All-America teams.
A co-captain of the Crimson, Brine is second on the team with 20
points on nine goals and 11 assists. The native of Truro, N.S.,
tallied a hat trick in Harvard's win against Boston University in
the Beanpot semifinal Tuesday and has collected nine points in her
last three games. She has amassed 133 points in her career, placing
her in a tie for 11th on the Crimson's all-time scoring list with
Julie Sasner '88.
