1998 U.S. Women's Team Inducted to Hall of Fame

BOSTON--The 1998 U.S. Women's Olympic Women's Ice Hockey Team, led by former Harvard men's player Ben Smith '68 and featuring Harvard women's players A.J. Mleczko '97-99, Angela Ruggiero '02-04 and Sandra Whyte '92, was inducted into the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame in a ceremony Tuesday night at the Westin Boston Waterfront hotel. The 1960 U.S. men's team, which included four Harvard skaters, was also honored.

Bill Cleary '56 and Bob Cleary '58 were on hand representing the gold-medal-winning 1960 team, which also included Bob McVey '58 and BobOwen '58. The 1998 women were joined in the induction class by Tony Amonte, Tom Barrasso, John LeClair and the late Frank Zamboni.

"It's a great honor to be inducted tonight," Smith said. "We were fortunate to have so many people that love the game of hockey. It was a special moment in all our lives."
