Senior tri-captain Jenny Brine has been a consistent skater since she finished second on the team in scoring her freshman year. Brine, who is one point away from tying Kiirsten Suurkask for 13th on the all-time scoring list at Harvard with 123 points, is third on the team with four goals and five assists this season. A member of the ECAC Hockey All-Academic team last year, Brine was also a semifinalist for the Coach Wooden Citizenship Cup.
What is your concentration?
Economics
What has athletics taught you that has helped you succeed in the classroom? What have you learned from your studies that has helped you on the ice?
Athletics have taught me a lot about time management, discipline and focus, and I think that has transferred well into my studies. When you are committing so much of your time to your sport(s), the down time that you do have needs to be used productively to succeed academically. As for skills I have learned in the classroom that have helped me with hockey, I would say that economics has taught me problem-solving skills and also how to think fast. Ever try finishing a two-hour midterm in a 53-minute time period? Good times!
