Hanover -- Dartmouth's Thompson Arena, home of the Big Green men's and women’s hockey teams, will undergo roughly $4 million in renovations scheduled to begin in April and end in August.

The aspect most visible to spectators will be a new set of dasher boards and glass, but patrons should also be a bit warmer while they watch games in the 35-year-old building.

Thompson is “really in pretty good condition, but a few things are vintage to when the facility opened,” said Richard Whitmore, Dartmouth's associate athletic director for facilities and operations, adding that plans for the upcoming work began to take shape roughly five years ago. “We're trying to keep it vital long into the future.”
