Team Notes: Dartmouth Hosts Union and RPI

HANOVER, N.H. — At Vermont on Jan. 18, the Big Green scored five goals to upend the Catamounts, 5-1. Senior Amanda Tunzo (Andover, Minn.) scored two goals and sophomore Camille Dumais (Beaconsfield, Que.) recorded three points.

SCOUTING THE BIG GREEN
The team enters the weekend with a 10-8-0 overall record and a 6-6-0 mark in the ECAC. The squad is sixth in the conference with 12 points. Cornell leads the league with a perfect 12-0-0 mark in the ECAC.

Multiple skaters have tallied points for Dartmouth, with sophomore Sasha Nanji (Markham, Ont.) leading the way. Nanji leads the team with 20 points on 11 goals and nine assists. Dumais is second on the team with 18 points on six goals and 12 assists. Two players are tied for third with 17 points. Junior Kelly Foley (Boston, Mass.) has nine goals and eight assists, and Trunzo has 10 goals and seven assists. Junior Reagan Fischer (Irma, Alta.) has 15 points on five goals and ten assists, and junior Jenna Hobeika (Alpine, N.J.) has 14 points on five goals and nine assists. Sophomore Sally Komarek (Minneapolis, Minn.) rounds out the double-digit point scorers with 12. Lauren Kelly (Milton, Ont.) leads the freshman class with six points on one goal and five assists. Overall, the squad has had 16 players who have recorded a point, and had 14 players record a goal and an assist.

In net, the playing time has been split between freshman Lindsay Holdcroft (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and sophomore Whitney Woodcox (Oshawa, Ont.). Holdcroft has started 11 games and played 640:54 minutes. She has 202 saves, a 2.81 goals against average, a 6-5-0 record, a .871 save percentage and one shutout. Woodcox has started seven games, totaling 442:41 minutes. She has 132 saves, a 2.17 goals against average, a 4-3-0 record and a .892 save percentage.

The team is averaging 3.39 goals per game, while giving up 2.61 goals per game. The offense has been aggressive, taking 32.6 shots per game. On the power play, the Big Green have scored goals on 20 of their 85 chances or 23.5 percent of the time. On the penalty kill, Dartmouth has allowed goals on eight out of the 69 chances.

KID'S NIGHT
Saturday's game against RPI is Kid's night at Thompson Arena. Kids 14 and under wearing their youth hockey jersey may purchase tickets for just $1. SCOUTING THE DUTCHWOMEN
Union enters the weekend with a 1-20-3 record overall and a 0-10-2 mark in the ECAC. The Dutchwomen have lost seven consecutive games and last won on Oct. 15 at home against Sacred Heart.

Last weekend, Union hosted Colgate and Cornell. Against Colgate, neither offense could find its groove, but the Raiders used a first-period goal to secure a 1-0 victory. In the game against Cornell the next day, the Big Red scored four goals on their way to a 4-2 win.

Junior Lauren Hoffman leads the team in points with nine. She has three goals and six assists. Junior Lauren Cromartie has eight points on two goals and six assists. Junior Kelly Alyea is third on the team with seven points. Senior Callee Heywood and freshman Stefanie Thomson are tied for the team lead in goals with four.

In net, Kate Gallagher has started 17 games and played 1,077:15 minutes. She has 581 saves, a .930 save percentage, a 2.45 goals against average and a 1-16-1 record.

SERIES HISTORY
When Union and Dartmouth meet on Friday it will be the 16th time the two teams have played. The Big Green have won the previous 15. The teams first met on Jan. 30 2004, with Dartmouth winning at Union 7-0. The Big Green are 6-0 at home against the Dutchwomen. In the previous meeting this season, Dartmouth won at Union on Jan. 8, 4-1. Eight of the 15 victories have been shutouts for Dartmouth.

SCOUTING THE ENGINEERS
The Engineers enter the weekend with a 9-8-6 record overall and are 7-4-1 in ECAC play. Rensselaer is 3-1 in its last four games including wins over Colgate, Harvard and Dartmouth. RPI is tied for fourth in the conference with Princeton.

Last weekend, the Engineers hosted Colgate and Cornell. RPI suffered a 6-1 loss against the Big Red, but bounced back with a 5-4 victory over the Raiders the next day.

Sophomore Taylor Horton leads the team in points with 17. She has nine goals and eight assists. Two players are second on the team with 13 points. Freshman Jordan Smelker has seven goals and six assists, and junior Alisa Harrison has five goals and eight assists. Junior Sierra Vadner is the team leader in assists with nine.

Senior Sonja van der Bliek has seen a majority of the time in net. She has started 19 games and played 1,097:34 minutes. She has 411 saves, a .895 save percentage, a 2.62 goals against average, a 9-8-3 record and one shutout.

SERIES HISTORY
Saturday will mark the 13th time the Engineers and the Big Green have met on the ice. Dartmouth leads the series, 8-3-1. The two schools first met on October 29, 2006, with the Big Green earning a 5-1 home victory. RPI earned its first two wins in the series last season with a 2-1 victory on Jan. 22 and a 5-2 win on Feb. 13. In the meeting between the two teams earlier this season, RPI controlled the contest and earned a 5-2 victory.
